Natural Fitness Natural Hemp Yoga Mat Bag

I just ordered this bag a few days ago and it came just yesterday!! I love the size and the storage. My yoga mat fits great and I still have plenty of room in it. The zippered pocket is great…it’s big enough for my ipod, cell phone and keys..which is wonderful!! My old yoga bag just had an open pocket and when I would lay it down, everything would tumble out. The strap is sturdy and easily adjustable….I know I will be using this bag for a long time…my cotton one just wasn’t holding up like I thought it would. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new mat bag this is roomy and sturdy.

Natural Fitness Cork Yoga Block (3-1/2-Inch x 5.1/2-Inch x 9-Inch)

Yoga blocks serve several purposes for the yoga practitioner: they can support your body when you are sitting (like a low stool) or laying down (under your back) and they can be used as a hand rest when entering balancing postures. For those of us who are not as stretchy, you can put the block on the floor to “raise the floor” to give your hands a place to rest as you try to balance. For example, if you are trying to balance on your right leg while raising your left leg, you might lean forward and put your right hand on a block.

Most blocks are made from one of three materials: foam, cork, or wood. Having tried each, I strongly strongly recommend cork.

– Foam is a bit soft and mushy. It feels like you are picking up a square of cotton candy (and is typically molded in the same garish colors). Plus foam seems like one of those substance that lives for eternity buried in a landfill or floating on the ocean.

– Wood is hard as a church pew. Sitting on it or laying on it can test your power to ignore pain. Though it has a nice heft in the hand, its bulk is also a liability. Sometimes you set a block on its end to hold a stretch and then as you move into another pose, you invariably wheel your arm or leg around and hit it with the best result being you only make a loud thwhack sound as it tumbles over.

In contrast, cork is a nice balance between the two and yoga is all about balance. It is reasonably firm, has just about the right weight in the hand, and is unlikely to cause you to stub your toe. And if you really need the bright color to make your day, you could probably even spray paint it or dye it, though I can’t say that I have tried it.

There seem to be only slight difference between the various cork brands, though I like this brand slightly more because of the nice rounding of the edges on the block.

Would recommend buying two. If you are buying one, you are probably into yoga enough where you will want two to do a greater variety of poses, plus two blocks is cheaper than even the least expensive pair of “yoga paints” or a “yoga top.” And even if you don’t use them too much, seeing them in the corner of your room will remind you that you need to stretch or get back into the gym.

Hope the review helps you. Cheers.

Natural Fitness Divine Natural Rubber Yoga Mat (24-Inch x 75-Inch x 5/16-Inch)

‘ve been practicing yoga seriously for eight years, and have never had a mat I loved more. Between the mats I’ve personally owned (including two Mandukas) and the mats that have cycled through the yoga studio I have attended for years (including Lululemon and Gaiam among others) I’ve seen me some mats, and this one is about as perfect as a mat can get.

For starters, it’s incredibly durable. One of the reasons I decided to pick one up was that the studio I attend replaced all their mats with Natural Fitness mats last year. These mats get used for several classes a day (people are on them for 6 or more hours a day, every day!) and have been in use at my studio for a year. So far there is no breakdown whatsoever! Unbelievable. The mats we’ve had in the past would start to shed pieces or develop holes within weeks or months. Not this mat! The studio mats look pretty much like they did when we first got ‘em.

Second, the surface is amazingly non-slip, even when your hands get sweaty! There are varying degrees of slip factor to almost any mat, but apparently not this one (unless you’re wearing lotion, and then, that’s not really the mat). Not even my Manduka (which is also incredibly durable, though not as comfy) is as non-slip as the N.F. mat.

Third, it’s very pliable and lightweight, making it easy to lug around and even travel with. It doesn’t hold creases after being folded, though I do generally roll mine, the mats at the studio are always folded in piles and never seem to suffer for it, even the one or two that sit on the bottom of the pile for a while.

Now…about the smell. Yeah, the natural rubber is stinky when you first get it. I hung mine outside for a few days, but you could also hang it in a little-used room with good ventilation. It takes a little while, but the smell does fade, and the mat is so worth the wait!

A kickass mat at a decent price. Go for it!

Update: I’ve had it for a year now, and there is a small amount of wear where I put my hands and feet. Other than that it’s holding up great!

prAna The Natural Yoga Mat

I’ve used this mat in about 6 classes so far. I practice Jivamukti yoga – my class lasts for about 90 minutes and the room is generally very warm (although I wouldn’t consider it “hot” yoga). Compared to mats I have used in the past – this mat is very sticky from the start – a definite plus. The thing that I’ve found to be slightly bothersome is that it it sort of stretchy. I notice in certain poses that I have actually pulled the mat taught and it wants to sort of spring back once I change positions.
I am assuming once I’ve used it a little more this spring that it has will go away. I’m hoping it does anyway.
It doesn’t greatly hinder my practice – but it is a little annoying if it decides to pop up off the wood floor and create a pucker.
All in all – it will do the job. I like the thickness of it and it seems like it will last me for a good year at least.

Overview

This new mat has a completely new design and double scrim for ultra stable performance.
