I learned to use this block well from my teacher. She insisted that each student secure two blocks to make yoga postures more accessible for those students who lacked the flexibility of a contortionist, a label that excludes most everyone. Using this block was especially helpful in attaining strength and ease in the postures, Ardha Chandrasana or Half-Moon and Trikonasana, Triangle. As a result of the calm developed in these poses when I trained with my Hugger Mugger block, my alignment is most superior for a non-contortionist. In addition, I immediately realized the benefit from simply sitting on the block; my sad posture was instantly corrected. Speaking of sitting, I place this block beneath my folded hip and rear in Pigeon’s pose or Runner’s Stretch. I enjoy the stretch of my piriformis muscles that this posture provides, and this block allows me safety in the pose and a much needed elongation of my vertebre. Similarly, using this block in Uttanasana, Standing Forward Bend, provides a powerful visual and safety factor. There are three sides of the block to support the hands in this folded posture that lead the stiff hamstrings to stretch safely. Also, the three-inch size is perfect for both men and women, and the texture allows for stability under the yogi’s weight. Finally, the fingers, the posterior, and the forehead all rest confortably (individually of course) on the block’s foam material, that cannot be said of hard, wooden blocks. Enjoy! Namaste.

I had a hard time deciding on which mat to purchase, as I really wanted a sticky mat. This isn’t super sticky yet, but I am sure it will be soon, once it’s more broken in (I’ve used it about 3-4 times). The thickness is great for me and I love the gold color I got. If you’re looking for a quality mat that will be sticky, go with this one. I have a few micro tears in mine already too, hence the 4/5 stars. I would purchase the same mat again.

I needed a mat which would not only remain ‘in place’ but also one that would allow my feet to move smoothly (without sticking to the mat) when doing vinyasa (flow) yoga. This mat met both needs.
I do yoga in my garage on a concrete floor. I have tried many mats on many surfaces (including thick and thin rugs!)but none would stick to the floor and yet allow me to move my feet quickly in sun salutations and glide smoothly when moving in modified chaturangas! My best solution was a bamboo mat (cloth on one side)…which sticks like glue to the concrete floor…and this mat on top of the bamboo mat. (I tried a mysore cotton mat on top of the bamboo and it would have been fine except that it was not long enough. I would have needed either a shorter bamboo mat or a longer mysore cotton mat. The solace mat works well because it is cotton on one side…for easy flow movements…yet sticks to the bamboo on the other side. Therefore, it can be shorter than the bamboo mat.)
I love this combination so much that I got a 2nd bamboo mat (for a total space of 6′x8′) and use 2 of the solace mats on top of the bamboo. This allows me ample room for reclining twists and even roll-overs (when I am experimenting on my own or when doing yin yoga)!
I have recommended them to all my yogi friends!
